Northwest Territories Nominee Program accepting applications from July 2 to July 9, 2025

Yellowknife — June 26, 2025

The second Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) application intake period for 2025 will open from 9am MST on July 2 to 5pm MST on July 9, 2025. Eligible individuals can apply online on the Northwest Territories Nominee Program website.

The first intake for applications was open from February 27 to March 6, 2025. Following this initial intake, 21 nomination spaces are still available out of the 150 nominations for 2025.

The second intake allows the NTNP to accept 10 Entry Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations (ELSSO) applications, 10 Skilled Worker/Express Entry (SWEE) applications, and one Francophone application to fill the 21 available spaces. If more applications are received than allotted for in a category, applications will be randomly selected within each category. If one of the three categories is not full, it will be filled by the other categories.

The NTNP will reopen under current eligibility criteria with one notable change of work permit eligibility being extended to March 31, 2026. Other Guideline updates include clarity to existing eligibility criteria, including extended leave provisions.

The number of applications employers can submit to the Employer Driven Stream is based on the size of their business for all of 2025 and includes the following maximums:

  • Employers with 1-10 total NWT employees: 1 application.
  • Employers with 11-49 total NWT employees: 2 applications.
  • Employers with 50+ total NWT employees: 4 applications.

For example, if an employer with 25 employees submitted two applications that meet the criteria in the first intake, they would not be eligible to apply in the second intake. However, if that same employer submitted two applications in the first intake but one was withdrawn because it failed to meet eligibility criteria, that employer would be eligible to submit one application to the NTNP second 2025 intake.

Following the intake period and pre-screening of all applications submitted, 21 total applications will be selected for assessment.

Applications will be assessed in the order of work permit expiry date, and to verify that all submitted documentation meets the eligibility criteria. Applicants will be notified by email if their applications have been selected.

Applicants are encouraged to review the updated program guidelines and application checklists and begin compiling required information and documentation before the program re-opens. If you have questions, please contact 1 (855) 440-5450 or immigration@gov.nt.ca, or visit: www.immigratenwt.ca.
