The federal department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is implementing new pathways to support Ukrainian immigration: the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET), and a special family reunification sponsorship pathway for permanent residence.
Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET)
- On March 17, 2022, the Government of Canada issued a news release about the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) – an immigration pathway designed for individuals fleeing Ukraine who want to come to Canada temporarily.
Special family reunification sponsorship pathway for permanent residence
- The Government of Canada has also implemented a special family reunification sponsorship pathway for permanent residence. Canadian Citizens and permanent residents seeking to sponsor their Ukrainian spouses or children to come to Canada permanently will have their applications prioritized by IRCC.
The Government of Canada also announced a new Job Bank: Jobs for Ukraine webpage, calling on employers who wish to support Ukrainians with offers of employment to register and inviting Ukrainians to create a profile to apply on a job.
